18.05.2010 An economic promoter, who was paid by the government to attract foreign
investment, worked on his private firm instead, has been singled out as
the bleakest event in April.
The police operation “Metastasis”,
which detained over 30 people, suspected in issuing illegal disability
pensions, is the lightest event in April.
This was decided by 17
chief editors of print and electronic media in Macedonia in the opinion
poll the conducted by independent news agency Makfax and NGO
Transparency - Zero Corruption.
Ten “bleak” votes went to promoter Filip Petkov, who has established a
private firm in US, at the same time when he was send by the government
to attract foreign investments.
Economic experts claim that each
representative of the country should put aside its private business in
order to avoid eventual conflict of interests.
Five “bleak”
votes went to the announcement that revision reports on state
institutions and ministries can be put on paper, before being processed
by authorized courts if needed.
The police action “Metastasis”,
which detained over 30 people suspected in issuing illegal disability
pensions and accepting bribe, has been singled as the lightest event
with 15 “light” votes.
About 37 people have been suspected in
issuing illegal disability pensions. They all worked as a organized
group, which have been charged with abuse of job position and issuing
fake licenses.
Five “light” votes went to the “Soncev grad” project, which has been put up for a revision by the Constitutional Court.
There are doubts that the urban plan on construction-building of a local in Sopiste municipality has been brought illegally.
The Corruption Barometer survey, conducted by Makfax news agency and
NGO Transparency Zero Corruption since 2005, questioned 16 chief
editors of domestic media: A1 TV, Telma TV, Alfa TV, Nasa TV, Alsat-M
TV, Utrinski Vesnik daily, Dnevnik daily, Vest daily, Nova Makedonija
daily, and weekly newspapers Globus, Kapital, Fokus, Lajme, Biznis and
Forum.
